President Trump Responds to Negative Press About Data Centers
I never thought I would say the following, but I agree with President Trump.
Whew! OK, I got that over with.
Trump has strongly defended the expansion of AI data centers across the United States, positioning them as essential drivers of economic growth and national competitiveness.

- He summed up his position with the phrase: "Let Data Reign." National Security & Global AI Competition: Framing data center infrastructure as vital to maintaining America's lead in artificial intelligence, Trump warned that local opposition plays into foreign hands.
He stated that "China is happier with this anti Data Center movement" and warned against "killing the Golden Goose." He alluded to local opposition as proletariats of the Communist regime.
- Addressing Local Backlash: Acknowledging local concerns over rising electricity bills, water usage, and land development, Trump noted that AI tech companies could use "a little public relations help" to address community pushback, and they definitely are doing that.
- Flexibility for Candidates: While advocating heavily for the infrastructure, Trump indicated he would not penalize fellow politicians who break ranks over local development disputes, stating that if a Republican candidate opposes a specific data center project, "that's OK with me."
I honestly think he is correct about all of this. China at this moment is creating mega-sized data centers, and no one is complaining about them. But in the US, people are so strapped for finances that any whiff of a tax increase or a larger utility bill puts panic in the streets. Those that are old enough should remember that we spent a lot of money and probably increased out tax base on going to the moon. This is the same thing!
