Google's New Email Setup
Well, if you are not happy with Google's new email setup with the new tabbing system at the top (see Figure 1) with the force feed PROMOTIONAL SPONSORED tabs — there's a way to quickly get rid of it.
As you can see (to the left) at the top of the email listing there are 5 tabs. The tabs are PRIMARY, SOCIAL, PROMOTIONS, UPDATES and FORUMS. If you don't want any of those categories, and you realize that you will be auto-spamming anything that you don't want to see, then you CAN get rid of them.
To get rid of some of these tabs (I think Primary and Social are OK), all you have to do is HIT the "+" sign in the last tab to the right. If you do that you will see what is in Figure 2 below.
All you have to do is uncheck the box of the tab-type that you want to ditch, and voila! It's gone.
Trės Simple, and good riddance to bad garbage.
If you decide to keep a tab like Promotions, but you
want to "train" the system not to put certain email into the Promotions folder, then go to the header of the email and deselect the green tab, which is whatever tab it was put into. This will tell the system that the next time you want that email to go into the INBOX or Primary folder the next time that person or company emails you.
Send me a comment if any of this isn't clear.
