What's It Going To Be: Apple iPad Pro, Chromebook, Microsoft Surface?: 15 Minute Series

I've been thinking about this much lately.

"What?" you say.

Well, I now have an Apple iPad, a Google Chromebook, and a Microsoft Surface. And I no longer have a desktop computer; actually, I haven't had one in many years. All three of my devices have plenty of memory, albeit in the clouds. And that is another blog subject.

I have many friends and students that ask me which of these devices I like the most. It's hard to answer that question because I use each for a different reason and each satisfies me for the use of its main attribute.

  1. I love my iPad for its quality and no fuss, no muss usability, and upgrade-ability. Apple makes the update process flawless. You can never go wrong with an Apple product, but they are so dang expensive --- beautiful, but expensive. The ubiquity is better than it once was, so it's a good thing. And the new iPad Pro is breathtakingly beautiful.
  2. The Chromebook is truly excellent. It's cheap, durable and amazingly easy to use. I love the Google software products and software system (all free and ready to use). I don't know how to explain it, but of the three noted above, if I was on a desert island, this is the one that I'd choose.
  3. The Surface has much promise. If only Microsoft could create a security system of their own, rather than have to rely on third party systems that screw up their system almost weekly. I had my Surface less than three months and I was already resetting the system back to its default because it was so screwed up. I love the Surface pen and its usage, I also love the interface, and I think that the actual physical makeup of the device is excellent, by far the best in the market, something that even Apple must be jealous of, but I also own this because I have to. My academic professional obligations dictate the use of the Microsoft Office Suite. And that is the subject of another blog posting. Google vs Microsoft.
To me, this is all very interesting because it is the way that all things are going. The day of the desktop computer has come and gone. This is why Dell Computers is suffering so badly; its recent report of poor sales is indicative of this. Either they didn't see it coming or they are just ill-advised. Having had to suffer through Dell's Customer Service, I think it's the later.

Why am I posting this?

Because I want my readers to realize that they have a choice, but that choice can be dependent upon your situation. I can't go into all of the details, but email me through this site and I will try to help you out.
