1. Sharp,
Sony and Panasonic — all big players in the TV market, had combined loses
of $20 billion this year and are cutting thousands of jobs. Consumers are now paying
attention to content, apps and user-friendliness for the dividing line between buying and not buying. That has helped Apple
become the pre-eminent consumer electronics brand. Investors note that Sony,
Sharp and Panasonic now have a combined worth of $29 billion, compared with
Apple's current valuation of $601 billion.
2. Amazon’s
Prime subscription pricing has changed. Prime used to be $79 per year, it
now goes for $7.99 a month and includes streaming video and expedited shipping.
The move is designed to compete with Netflix as well as major shipping savings
for Amazon’s regular customers.
3. Apple
is looking for ways to give Intel the boot on all future Mac personal computers
using the same technology that makes the iPad and iPhone possible. Apple’s
software engineers are confident that its mobile-device chip design will one
day power its desktops and laptops.
4. The coming war over wireless charging was featured in an article in Bloomberg Business
Weekly. New York Nick's
season-ticket holders will be watched this season as they will be part of a
pilot group that receives smartphone cases that will allow them to charge
their iPhones wirelessly from these techno-cases in 550 charging spots within the

5. Check out recovers.org,
a website that was created as the result of Hurricane Sandy. It is an
amazing website that popped up as the result of the desperate need for
matching volunteers with those in need of help. This is the brainchild of 23-year old, Caitria O’Neill, of San Francisco.
6. Tim Tuttle has created an app that reads
your mind. Two years ago, he co-founded San Francisco-based Expect Labs to build software for a time when humans no longer hunt down
information by typing out their queries. This fall, Expect Labs is releasing “MindMeld” a free app that adds the
company’s voice powered search technology to the iPad. Video conferencing

Jude’s Medical is using a small, rechargeable neurotransmitter to assist
chronic migraine headache patients that do not respond to medication. The device, which is called the Eon
Mini, is now being used in Europe.
